Gift Card FAQ’s

Can you determine if a gift card is active?

Yes, if the full card number is provided or if you have the last four digits with receipt information, we can determine if the card is active.

Can you provide gift card purchase information?

Yes, if the gift card is active, we can provide where the gift card was purchased (store name and number) as well as the card denomination amount. We are not able to provide you with the method of payment used for purchasing the gift card.

Can you provide the current value on the gift card?

For card brands where BHN is the Issuer, then we are able to provide the balance and transaction history for the card. If BHN is not the Issuer, then we do not have access to the balance on the card; however, we can contact the card retailer to provide you the balance. Or you can call the customer service number on the back of the card to obtain the value amount available on the card.

Can you help a customer with a lost/stolen gift card issue?

Lost/stolen gift card issues are handled by the card retailer customer service and their policy/guidelines. If the consumer has their receipt with the last four digits of the gift card number, then we can provide the full card number in order for the consumer to receive assistance from the card retailer customer service. The consumer can call the customer service phone number on the back of the card for assistance.

Can you help a customer who is having trouble redeeming their gift card?

If there is a balance on the card or a zero balance showing that the card is active, then the card retailer should be able to help the consumer, as they have access to the card’s transaction history. The consumer can call the customer service phone number on the back of the card for assistance. The card retailer can contact BHN to verify that the card is active. If the gift card is showing inactive, then the customer should return to the place where they purchased the card with their receipt. The store retailer can verify that payment was made for the card and issue a new card, if appropriate. If the store or card retailer needs assistance, then please contact us.

Can you deactivate a card if the method of payment is insufficient?

For most cards, we will contact the card retailer to request deactivation of the card. The card retailer will oblige or decline our request depending on their policy/guidelines. When you contact us, please provide the full card number and denomination amount.
